Chilliwack Group Addresses Importance of Staying Connected as We Age

On March 26th, the Chilliwack Senior Peer Counsellors are hosting an interactive presentation in collaboration with Seniors First BC at 9168 Corbould Street. This event (which requires an RSVP by March 22), is a crucial initiative aimed at addressing the pervasive issues of loneliness and social isolation among seniors.
Loneliness and social isolation are not just emotional challenges but also have significant physical and mental health implications. According to a study by Statistics Canada, these conditions can lead to increased risks of depression, anxiety, and even cognitive decline among seniors.
The event will delve into the risk factors associated with loneliness and social isolation, highlighting the critical importance of staying connected. Participants will learn about the various impacts these conditions can have on their well-being and will be provided with practical ideas and strategies to maintain social connections.
Staying connected is more than just a social necessity; it is a health imperative. By engaging in community activities, joining social groups, and leveraging technology to stay in touch with loved ones, seniors can significantly reduce the risks associated with loneliness and isolation.
